Scalable Modelling in the PEPA Eclipse Plug-in

چکیده
PEPA has a long history of software tool support. As we saw in the lecture note, the PEPA Eclipse Plug-in has been recently proposed as an implementation of the language which supports the whole model development process with a rich graphical interface. Lecture note 14 provided an overview of the main plug-in features such as static analysis and numerical solution of the underlying continuous-time Markov chain (CTMC). This lecture note is concerned with a recently added module which implements the some of the scalable analysis techniques discussed in lecture note 15. These scalable analysis techniques are based on the numerical vector form of state representation. As a running example we consider the following PEPA model, which is very similar to one presented in earlier notes:

Experiences of Using the Pepa Performance Modelling Tools with a Non-repudiation Protocol
In this paper, we described a experience of using PEPA eclipse plug-in tool to specify a functional-equivalent representation of a non-repudiation protocol. The model is specified using Markovian process algebra PEPA. The basic model suffers from the well known state space explosion problem when tackled using Continues Time Markov Chain analysis. In order to modelling in a scalable way, functio...

متن کاملLarge-Scale Modelling with the PEPA Eclipse Plug-In
We report on recent advances in the development of the PEPA Eclipse Plug-in, a software tool which supports a complete modelling workflow for the stochastic process algebra PEPA. The most notable improvements regard the implementation of the population-based semantics, which constitutes the basis for the aggregation of models for large state spaces. Analysis is supported either via an efficient...
متن کاملA compartmental model of the cAMP/PKA/MAPK pathway in Bio-PEPA
The vast majority of biochemical systems involve the exchange of information between different compartments, either in the form of transportation or via the intervention of membrane proteins which are able to transmit stimuli between bordering compartments. The correct quantitative handling of compartments is, therefore, extremely important when modelling real biochemical systems. The Bio-PEPA ...
متن کاملA Visual Single - Step Navigator for the Eclipse PEPA Plug - in 4 th Year Project Report
The Performance Evaluation Process Algebra (PEPA) language allows model systems to be created and evaluated. Previously, the main tool used to work with PEPA files was the PEPA Workbench, which contained-among many features-a visual debugger. The debugger created a visual, state machine representation of the PEPA file and allowed users to navigate through different states and perform simulation...
